Dr. Travis Castleberry

Dr. Travis Castleberry brings his unique blend of clinical expertise and personality to Castleberry Dental, where he's dedicated to helping patients achieve healthier, more confident smiles. Dr. C has built his practice on the philosophy that quality dental care doesn't have to be stuffy or intimidating.

When asked what drew him to dentistry, Dr. C jokes that after considering his options in medicine, he decided to focus on the area where his skills could do the most good, and where patients appreciate someone who can make them smile, even before the work is done. His straightforward approach and dry sense of humor help put even anxious patients at ease.

Dr. C's favorite part of the job? Seeing patients leave with renewed confidence in their smiles. His least favorite? Paperwork (and payroll day, naturally). He's grateful for his exceptional team, who keep the practice running smoothly.

Outside the office, Dr. C is refreshingly honest about his need for downtime. He's selective about his social calendar, preferring quiet evenings where he can disconnect and hit the gym.

While his humor may be unconventional, Dr. C's commitment to excellent patient care is entirely serious. His patients appreciate his honesty, skill, and the fact that he never takes himself too seriously, even if he does take your dental health very seriously indeed.

Dr. David Wicks

Dr. David Wicks brings over four decades of dental expertise to Castleberry Dental, where he supports the practice's mission of providing exceptional patient care. A 1983 graduate of Georgetown University School of Dentistry, Dr. Wicks further honed his skills through a rigorous two-year General Practice Residency in Chicago, Illinois, conveniently located just down the street from Wrigley Field.

Following his residency, Dr. Wicks established his own private practice in Bangor, Maine, which he later merged with a well-established local practice where he continued to serve patients for the next decade. His extensive experience and commitment to modern dentistry make him a valued member of the Castleberry Dental team.

Dr. Wicks' path to dentistry was somewhat serendipitous. Originally planning to become a heavy construction equipment operator, he reconsidered his career direction after a change in circumstances. A fortuitous visit to his local dentist, combined with an inspiring conversation, set him on the path to dental school—a decision he has never regretted.

Outside the practice, Dr. Wicks takes full advantage of living in beautiful Bar Harbor, with Acadia National Park literally in his backyard. The island offers endless recreation opportunities, and Dr. Wicks rarely feels the need to leave, especially during the vibrant summer months. An avid water enthusiast, he enjoys exploring Frenchman's Bay in his Hobie sailing kayak, combining his love of the outdoors with the peaceful rhythm of life on the coast.

Jamie Birdsall

Team Leader, Certified Dental Assistant

Jamie has been a dedicated member of the dental community since 2004, bringing over two decades of experience to her role at Castleberry Dental. She began her career through on-the-job training and quickly advanced her credentials, earning her dental radiology certification in 2005 and becoming a certified dental assistant in 2008. Jamie joined Dr. C's practice in 2013 and has been an integral part of the team ever since.

As team leader, Jamie seamlessly balances administrative responsibilities with hands-on clinical care, ensuring both the smooth operation of the practice and exceptional patient experiences. What Jamie enjoys most about her work is the incredible team culture at Castleberry Dental. As their group chat name declares, they truly are the "Dream Dental Team." A close-knit family that takes their work seriously while never forgetting to have fun. This positive environment makes every workday enjoyable and reinforces Jamie's dedication to delivering exceptional patient care.

Outside the office, Jamie is a busy mom of 4 kiddos, and a lucky wife. When Jamie isn't in the dental office or chasing her kids from sporting event to sporting event, she is in the CrossFit gym that she and her husband own, where she pursues her passion for fitness with the same dedication she brings to dentistry. Whether she's lifting heavy weights or perfecting her handstand walks, Jamie embraces challenges that keep her strong both physically and mentally.

Kaycie Perry

Patient Care Coordinator

Kaycie joined the Castleberry Dental team in October 2024, bringing her warm personality and people-focused approach to the front desk. As Patient Coordinator, she's often the first friendly face patients see when they arrive, and she takes pride in greeting everyone with a smile and assisting them to the best of her ability. A self-described "people person," Kaycie loves meeting new patients and learning something new about dentistry every day.

Before transitioning to the dental field, Kaycie worked in retail and banking, where she developed strong customer service skills that serve her well in her current role. Her move to dentistry came through a personal recommendation from her longtime hygienist and friend, Liza. She told her about the opening at Castleberry Dental and encouraged her to apply. Liza wasn't wrong about it being a perfect fit! Kaycie has found her niche and hopes to continue growing with the practice for years to come.

Outside the office, Kaycie leads an active lifestyle. She enjoys hiking, paddleboarding, snowshoeing, and practicing yoga. She's also a dedicated dog mom who loves taking her pups for walks. When she wants to unwind, you'll find her curled up with a good book. Kaycie and her husband share a love of travel and enjoy exploring new destinations via cruise ships, which is his favorite way to see the world.

Sue Dalton

Receptionist

Sue brings over four decades of dental experience to her role as a receptionist at Castleberry Dental, having begun her career in dentistry in 1982. She joined the Castleberry Dental team in October 2024, and her extensive background in dental administration has made her an invaluable asset to the practice.

Sue received her training at a Federally Qualified Health Center, where she developed a deep understanding of patient care coordination and dental office operations. Her career path was inspired by a meaningful relationship with her childhood dentist, which sparked her interest in the field. She was further drawn to dentistry by the opportunity to work alongside multiple dentists and residents, appreciating the dynamic and collaborative nature of dental practice.

In her role at Castleberry Dental, Sue focuses on timely scheduling, creative problem-solving, and ensuring overall patient satisfaction. What she loves most about her work is coordinating care and bringing together all the elements needed to provide patients with seamless, high-quality dental experiences.

Outside the office, Sue is happily busy. She enjoys baking and cooking, caring for her beloved dog, and serving her community through volunteer work on various boards. In fact, Sue loves her work so much that it remains one of her favorite activities even in her spare time, a testament to her dedication and passion for what she does.

Lynn Cotroneo

Office Manager

Lynn serves as office manager at Castleberry Dental, overseeing day-to-day operations that keep the practice running smoothly. Her responsibilities are wide-ranging and include human resources duties, managing accounts receivable and payable, coordinating insurance, and coordinating treatment. She's also the office "Mom" and staff "therapist." Roles she embraces with warmth and dedication.

A graduate of Florida A&M University with a Bachelor of Science degree, Lynn entered the dental field in 2014 through on-the-job training and has since enhanced her expertise with online courses in dental management. She initially worked for Smile Design, which Castleberry Dental acquired in August 2024. Lynn is grateful that Dr. Castleberry recognized her value and welcomed her to the Castleberry Dental team, where she continues to thrive.

Lynn's journey into dentistry began unexpectedly. Her oldest son was on the boys' gymnastics team with the son of Dr. Palmer, her previous employer. After spending countless hours at the gym watching their boys practice, Dr. Palmer and his wife asked Lynn if she'd be interested in helping out at their front desk. With all three of her sons now in school, the timing was perfect, and eleven years later, Lynn is still in the field and loving every minute of it!

Outside the office, Lynn stays active with exercise, yoga, and walks with her dog. She's an avid reader and music lover who also dedicates significant time to supporting her three sons, two in college and one a high school senior, as they pursue their various sports and activities.

Sarah Rittal

RDH - Dental Hygienist

Sarah joined Castleberry Dental in 2025 as a dental hygienist, bringing with her a genuine passion for patient care and a warm, approachable personality. A graduate of the University of Maine at Augusta, Sarah is dedicated to making every dental visit as comfortable and positive as possible, especially for those who may feel anxious about dental care. What Sarah loves most about working at Castleberry Dental is the supportive, helpful team environment and the gratitude patients express for their care.

Sarah's journey into dentistry is rooted in personal experience. As a child, she underwent extensive dental work and came to understand firsthand the fear that many people associate with dental visits. This inspired her to pursue a career where she could help others feel more at ease, particularly children, ensuring they have positive experiences that set the foundation for a lifetime of good oral health.

Outside the office, Sarah is a devoted hockey fan who attends as many UMaine Black Bears and Boston Bruins games as she can. In the summer, you'll find her fishing, and year-round, she enjoys playing Mario on the Nintendo with her son. Sarah also loves ice skating with her youngest son, who plays hockey, and she's quite artistic, frequently creating handmade gifts for friends and family.

Eliza Murphy

RDH - Dental Hygienist

Eliza has been a dedicated dental hygienist since 2004, when she began her career with Dr. Erickson in Bangor, Maine. A graduate of the University of Maine in Bangor, Eliza was initially drawn to the dental field for its practical benefits, flexible hours with no nights or weekends, but has stayed because of the meaningful connections she's built with her patients over the years.

What Eliza enjoys most about her work is the opportunity to catch up with her patients and hear about their lives and adventures. She finds joy in these ongoing relationships, learning about the milestones, travels, and experiences that make each patient unique. This genuine interest in people makes every appointment feel less like a clinical visit and more like time spent with a friend.

Outside the office, Eliza leads an active and adventurous lifestyle. She loves spending time at her camp, attending concerts, and playing with her dogs. When the weather's nice, you'll find her paddleboarding on Maine's beautiful waters or tackling tough mountain challenges that test her endurance and determination.

Amy Welch

RDH - Dental Hygienist

Amy is a dedicated dental hygienist who has been caring for patients since 2007 and has worked in the same building where she started her career! A graduate of the University College of Bangor, Amy joined the Castleberry Dental team in 2024, bringing nearly two decades of experience and a wealth of patient relationships.

Amy's decision to pursue a career in dental hygiene was shaped by positive childhood experiences at the dental office and her desire to enter the medical field without working nights or weekends. She considered nursing but ultimately chose hygiene, and she's never looked back. Her goal is to make every patient feel comfortable and cared for, and she brings a fun, positive attitude to both her patients and her team every single day.

Outside the office, Amy leads a full and active life. She's been married to her high school sweetheart, and together they have three busy boys who keep them on their toes with sports, activities, and adventures. The family loves camping, boating, and traveling the world together. One of their favorite ways to explore is in their RV, which has taken them to destinations like the Outer Banks, Niagara Falls, Upstate New York, the Smoky Mountains, and numerous local campgrounds. These travel experiences create cherished family memories and fuel Amy's adventurous spirit.

Terri Snow

RDH - Dental Hygienist

Terri Snow has been a dedicated dental hygienist at Castleberry Dental since 2003. She received her education and training from the University College of Bangor and the University of Maine Augusta, preparing her for a career focused on making a positive impact on patients' health.

As a dental hygienist, Terri's responsibilities include direct patient care, routine prophylaxis, and sleep therapy services. What she treasures most about her work is the sense of extended family she shares with both her team and patients—a warmth that defines the practice atmosphere.

Terri's journey into dentistry began with a simple yet powerful goal: to become a healthcare provider who could positively influence people's lives. Today, she does exactly that, helping patients improve not only their oral health but potentially their sleep patterns and overall quality of life.

Outside the office, Terri enjoys spending time with dogs and expressing her creativity through abstract painting. She appreciates the value of solitude, finding joy in quiet moments—something she considers a unique quality.

Breana Hesseltine

Dental Assistant

Breana joined the dental field in 2021, right after graduating high school, and quickly discovered her true calling. What started as a job search during the uncertainty of COVID became a passion that has shaped her career path. Originally planning to pursue veterinary medicine, Breana responded to an ad for a dental assistant position, tried it out, and immediately fell in love with the field. She appreciates that dentistry offers the perfect blend of science and art, a combination that speaks to both her analytical and creative sides.

As a dental assistant at Castleberry Dental, Breana is often one of the first friendly faces patients see. Having undergone multiple dental restorations herself, she brings a unique empathy to her role and truly understands what it's like to be in the patient's chair. This personal perspective helps her provide compassionate, reassuring care to everyone she assists. Breana is also cross-trained to help at the front desk, and she takes pride in being versatile and stepping in wherever she's needed.

Outside the office, Breana is an outdoor enthusiast who takes full advantage of Maine's beautiful summers. You'll often find her at a lake, swimming, paddleboarding, or enjoying a boat ride. She's also quite artistic, with a particular love for painting in watercolors. Thanks to years of ceramics classes in high school, where she was so dedicated she'd arrive early or stay late to create, Breana is also skilled at sculpting and enjoys working with her hands in multiple creative mediums.

Ginger Harmon

Dental Assistant

Ginger has been working in dentistry since 2018 and joined the Castleberry Dental team in 2021. She received her training through hands-on experience and courses with 3-D Dentist, developing her skills in a dynamic, real-world environment that has prepared her well for the fast-paced nature of dental assisting.

Her favorite aspect of working with patients is helping them overcome their nervousness or anxiety about dental visits. Ginger understands that the dentist's office isn't everyone's favorite place to be, so when patients arrive feeling anxious and leave laughing and relaxed, it truly makes her day. Her warm, personable approach and ability to put people at ease make her an invaluable member of the clinical team.

Outside the office, Ginger enjoys staying active through hiking and working out, and she loves unwinding with a good book. When asked about unique hobbies, Ginger jokes about being sassy with her boss and occasionally dropping expensive instruments down the drain. Though we're pretty sure (and hopeful!) that's more of a running joke than an actual hobby!

Stephanie Lynn

Insurance Coordinator

Stefanie joined the Castleberry Dental team in 2022, bringing over 35 years of experience in the medical field. As our insurance coordinator, she serves as a vital bridge between patients and their insurance benefits, ensuring claims are processed correctly and helping patients maximize their coverage. Stefanie takes pride in breaking down complex insurance information into clear, understandable terms, both for patients navigating their benefits and for team members providing care.

After more than three decades in the medical field, Stefanie was ready for a new challenge and found her calling in dentistry. She loves being part of a team that's genuinely dedicated to helping people achieve the smiles they've always wanted, and she finds great joy in meeting new patients and building lasting relationships with them.

Outside the office, Stefanie is creatively and adventurously inclined. An avid quilter, she has a unique talent for transforming discarded clothing into cherished keepsakes, creating beautiful quilts and pillows that preserve memories in fabric form. When she's not quilting, you might find Stefanie kayaking on the water, immersed in a good book, camping under the stars, or exploring new destinations through travel.

We Look forward to Seeing Your Smile
Very Friendly and Great Sense Of Humor.

Very friendly and great sense of humor. All the staff were nice and I got all my dental work issues taken care of over the span of several appointments.
